It began in 2025 as Africa's health sovereignty push, convened by President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana. It matured into a comprehensive political and economic doctrine at the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
It has since evolved into a platform for institutional reform, cross-border delivery coalitions, and investment-anchored transformation. It is anchored in Accra. Its ambition is genuinely global.
The Accra Reset transcends coalitions, campaigns, and donor platforms. It is an operating system for sovereignty in the new world.

September 2025 - New York, USA
The Accra Reset was unveiled on the sidelines of UNGA 80. The Presidential Council and Guardians Circle were formally announced. Serving and former Heads of State joined the platform. The initiative crossed from aspiration into institution.
January 2026 - Davos, Switzerland
The Club of Accra hosted a high-level dialogue on the margins of WEF. The OCTagon-Health suite was soft-launched, the High-Level Panel on Global Health Architecture and Governance Reform was convened, and the first cohort of pathfinder private sector partners was recruited.
February 2026 - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
At the 39th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly, the Accra Reset convened Heads of State, the AU Commission, AUDA-NEPAD, and the Alliance of African Multilateral Financial Institutions. Three formal launches followed: the sovereign financing facility, the Masterkey roadmap, and the Sovereign Negotiators Network.
April 2026 - Global Announcement
The High-Level Panel on Reform of the Global Health Architecture and Governance became a named public workstream, clarifying the Accra Reset's three-part sovereign health architecture alongside HLCG-RIO and HINGE.
May 2026 - Lyon, France
The Lyon convening advanced the sovereign health architecture agenda, sharpening the link between health governance reform, implementation compacts, and country delivery systems.
May 2026 - Paris, France
The OECD keynote consolidated the Accra Reset's updated governance and programme architecture, including the validated membership of the Presidential Council and Guardians' Circle.
14 May 2026 - Kigali, Rwanda
SIGN, the Sankoree Institute of Global Negotiators, was launched in partnership with ASG and AfroChampions. GUNS remained the internal credentialling architecture, while OCTagon sat within SIGN as an enabling tool.
May 2026 - Nairobi, Kenya
Nairobi platform addresses carried the Accra Reset into the wider economic transformation conversation, linking sovereign negotiation capacity, industrial strategy, and labour mobility.
Late May 2026 - Geneva, Switzerland
The World Health Assembly dialogue is the next signposted milestone, intended to advance the sovereign health architecture and carry reform and delivery proposals into the multilateral health calendar.
